Antique Hand Painted Mourning Pendant of Philip Utton 1761-1828

Description

Antique Hand Painted Miniature set in gold(9ct) frame of a mourning pin/pendant.
Engraved on back of pendant is "Philip Utton Oct. 25 Aug. 1828 At 66."
Front of frame is bordered with 37 faceted black gems either black onyx or glass. Painting is in good condition (unsigned).
Reverse contains a visible lock of hair ostensibly from the deceased. Rare example of mourning jewelry from the early 19th century.
Measures 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches in excellent condition.
