Dimensions of the mask of 30 x 19 x 23 cms.
Weight approximately 1.31 kg without packaging for the mask, and 1.46 kg for the metal base.
Materials: Wood.
Presumed age: Mid twentieth century or before.
Mende mask, from Sierra Leone.
The Sandé, women's societies, used this type of mask during various ceremonies. The face always has feminine features, even when it embodies a masculine spirit.
Remarkable headdress for the proposed mask, representing the spirit of fertility.
